The
Lodge is directly opposite the magnificent Redcliff's. Approximately
6 kilometres west from the Lodge lies the wild and relatively
undeveloped Lower Zambezi National Park which includes Mpata Gorge,
a world renowned Tiger fish area. 25 Kilometres east from the Lodge
are the upper reaches of Cahora Bassa Dam.
The
remote location of the Lodge ensures guests of a secluded stay in
the Zambian bush where they can experience the spirit of the "Real
Africa".
By Air:
There are regular commercial flights between Johannesburg (South
Africa) and Lusaka (Zambia). (Duration approximately 2 hours). A
Number of inter-continental flights direct to Lusaka are also
available. Charter flights can be arranged from Lusaka to the bush
airfield at Luangwa Boma (seasonal airfield), with co-ordinates:
S15"38' E30"24' - length 1.000m, elevation 300m. (Duration
approximately 30 minutes).
By Road:
The turnoff to Luangwa Boma is at the Luangwa Bridge, approximately
230 kilometres from Lusaka along the Great East Road which is tarred
and in good condition. From the turnoff follow the 87 kilometres
gravel road, which runs parallel to the Luangwa River to the Luangwa
Boma/Feira. Vehicles can be parked safely at the Filling Station at
Luangwa Boma. Vehicle hire is available in Lusaka for transfer to
Luangwa Boma by prior arrangement. (Duration approximately 4½
hours).
Boat Transfer:
A boat transfer from Luangwa Boma, up the Zambezi River, to the
Lodge completes the last part of the journey. (Duration
approximately 20 minutes).
Self Drive:
During the dry season (May to November), the Lodge can be reached by
4x4 or high clearance vehicle from Luangwa Boma/Feira. |
